My very first memories of taking photos involved my two younger brothers.  I would create sets, often beach scenes and beg and cajole them to wear a bikini (sorry guys) and take their poses.  I had a Kodak Instamatic 130 camera.  I absolutely loved dreaming up new scenarios they would begrudgingly model in.

 Like most others, then came the introduction of Vogue magazine and in my case my father’s copies of Playboy magazine that were not well hidden in the house.  Flipping through the pages of Vogue was and is always such a treat.  These magical fabricated worlds that was so far removed from suburban Australia.

It was not until my early 20’s and living in Portugal that I stumbled upon an open area solo exhibition of Sebastian Salgado’s that I was converted in a second.  His work was and is some of the most dramatic kind of storytelling I’ve ever seen.  What followed was studying photography at City and Guilds in London, falling in love with the dark room (which I’ve never revisited mind you) and a long and varied career assisting and working in London’s high-end fashion scene.

The dream was to work with Mario Testino which I managed to do against all odds.  I then assisted super duo Mert and Marcus. Priceless exposure I gained to my craft.

 I now reside in Australia after 12 glorious years in the UK and I continue to dig deep and develop my own work.  After shooting mostly commercial fashion clients, I’m now razor focused on my fine art work where I can tell my story and create work that feels authentically mine.
